ABOUT VERDANT

VERDANT is a critically acclaimed landscape design-build studio based in Brooklyn, New York. We have created numerous signature projects which include the Flowerbox Building in the East Village, The Enclosed Forest at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and the Skymeadow at Flavorpaper’s headquarters in Brooklyn. Our designs have been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Interior Design, Dwell, and New York Magazine.

Founded on the principles of an artistic practice, we curate aesthetic and environmental values. As designers, horticulturists, and artisans,  we view landscape through a different lens, and aim to create solutions that push conventions.

Our work is focused on the innovative integration of landscape and architecture in both urban and rural contexts. Led by artist and designer Mac Carbonell, VERDANT is constantly looking for ways to create a dialogue between natural elements—plants, trees, grass, wood, and stone—and manufactured elements such as metal, concrete, and glass.

Whether in New York City or the tri-state area, we collaborate closely with architects, interior designers, and clients, bringing our sensibilities, expertise, and innovative ecological solutions to the fore. Our team adds thoughtfulness and experience to new development and renovation projects of varying scales.

Current designs in progress include a penthouse in the Flatiron District of NYC, a modern beach house in Bridgehampton NY, large-scale residential commissions in the Texas Hill Country, and a residential masterplan in Israel.

We create inspired landscapes for those who seek them.

VERDANT IS HIRING

EXPERIENCED LANDSCAPE DESIGNER

We are looking to hire a Landscape Designer to join our team. As a boutique design-build firm, we operate in the unique pattern of executing our own designs with an experienced team of designers, craftsmen, installers, and horticulturists.

The ideal candidate for this position has 3-7 years of high-end residential experience in NYC, is comfortable in a variety of project frameworks, has excellent client interaction and communication skills, and both technical and plant knowledge. This new team member should be self-motivated, have a passion for plants, design, and execution and be able to deal with the day to day demands of a given project with guidance from supervising designers. We are looking for somebody with a strong and positive presence that is able to work diligently with our team and has an ambition for creative growth.

Because we understand that design-build operations are a unique endeavor in NYC, we are open to qualified candidates without a landscape background.  Those who have comparable project management and client communication experiences in other fields are welcome to apply.

Finally, as part of a planned marketing campaign for this coming year, we welcome candidates with experience and interest in the marketing side of the design industry. This includes but is not limited to social media posts, website maintenance, and PR correspondence.
